Movie Review - The Wizard of Oz - IMAX 3-D
The Wizard of Oz - IMAX 3-D ***** (PG) Like most Americans under 80, I’ve only seen this 1939 classic on TV. This chance to catch it not only on a really big screen, but with 3-D enhancements is a genuine treat for three reasons:
1 - The film is even better than I remembered, with humor and heart (especially from Ray Bolger and Bert Lahr) shining brighter in large scale. All the story and cinematic elements seem as fresh and engaging as they must have seen to audiences when it opened.
2 - The 3-D upgrades work quite nicely, even in the opening black & white Kansas sequences.

3 - Having suffered through the recent lame attempt at a splashy prequel, Oz the Great and Powerful, the absence of James Franco is another plus. (9/20/13)
