What's St. Louis Magazine's word on Pastaria? Pretty good, it turns out. The Clayton restaurant opened last fall, and is run by Gerard Craft, who you may recognize from Niche. Lowry approved of the pizza but wrote he didn't believe it was as 'life changing' as Esquire previously claimed. "A pizza Margherita is creditable and correct. The crust has that rough, irregularly bubbled 'bead' that comes from a superior dough, and the scorched bottom imparts so much flavor," Lowry writes. Chef Gerard Craft's Niche opened at 7734 Forsyth Blvd in Clayton on Thursday. According to the Riverfront Times, the new location stands next-door to Craft's Pastaria. A liquor license has been approved for restaurateur Gerard Craft's much-anticipated Clayton restaurants. The Clayton Board of Aldermen on Tuesday voted unanimously to approve the license, which will be used at Niche and Pastaria by Niche. The restaurants will be housed at Centene Plaza, 7734 Forsyth Blvd. Craft told aldermen that Pastaria is expected to open at the beginning of September, followed by Niche in late October or early November. Viewers can watch Clayton's Centene Plaza get built in less than 2 minutes in a YouTube video posted by Clayco earlier this year. The facility opened in June 2010 and houses such companies as Centene Corporation and Armstrong Teasdale. It will soon host acclaimed Chef Gerard Craft's Niche and Pastaria by Niche.
