There's a celebration at Maya Cafe, in Maplewood.
The Torture Chamber Orchestra plays at Maya Cafe every Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos) and April Fools Day. The players are all musicians of some sort, but play instruments they don't normally play, or are just learning to play. The result is that they sound like a very dedicated seventh-grade band. At the Maya on Friday they dressed for the occasion. See more photos on Maplewood-Brentwood Facebook (Like it!)
Tickets were available as of Friday night.
At the Fall Food Frenzy, at Monarch, in Maplewood, 30 St. Louis-area restaurants will cook to benefit the ALS Association's local chapter. The event is Sunday, from 5-8 p.m. as reported in the St. Louis Post Dispatch. Tickets are still available. Read the full article, including ticket information, in the St. Louis Post Dispatch. The Monarch recently had its east side repaired after being run into by a truck. Also on Patch:
