Clayton Man Charged with Flourishing Weapon, Assaulting Officer

The man apparently flashed a toy gun at a woman on South Brentwood Boulevard, police said.

A Clayton man was charged Friday with unlawful use of a weapon and assault on a law enforcement officer. In a report, police said a witness called the Clayton Police Department to say the man had flourished a handgun Thursday as they both drove on South Brentwood Boulevard near Shaw Park. A short time later, police stopped a car driven by Jason Carlie, 21, of Clayton, and searched it. They found a toy pistol painted black to resemble a real handgun. Police also found a hunting knife with a 10-inch blade in the center console, according to the report.
