Clayton Company Helps Install Solar Panels at Missouri Botanical Garden

Microgrid Energy received assistance from Express Scripts on the project.

A Clayton-based company recently helped install more than 100 solar panels at a Missouri Botanical Garden facility, a news release states. Microgrid Energy installed the 25-kilowatt array on the roof of the Commerce Bank Center for Science Education. The 110-panel system covers roughly 3,000 square feet and is expected to last for 30 years. It can be seen from Interstate 44 near Kingshighway. The Garden had been wanting solar panels for the building's roof for some time but was not able to afford the project, Microgrid Chief Executive Rick Hunter stated in an e-mail. Green-Power Initiative Needs Clayton Residents' Help

The city has set green-energy goals that must be reached by April in order to receive a designation from the Environmental Protection Agency.

At the start of the final stretch of the Clayton Green Power Community (GPC) Challenge, the effort still needs you. With a little more than three months to go, the city is more than three-fourths of the way to becoming the first GPC in the state of Missouri. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency awards that distinction. The target is to exceed the challenge goal by Earth Day on April 22. The yearlong challenge began April 1. As of Dec. 31, more than 180 residential customers and 30 business customers had signed up to support the challenge.  Most do this by committing to support new Missouri wind farms via enrollment in Ameren Missouri’s Pure Power program.  In addition, 17 businesses and nine residential customers are considering the …
