Burglaries on Westmoreland Under Clayton Police Investigation

Two perpetrators are suspected in those incidents and two attempted burglaries on streets near University City, Detective Mark Seagle said.

Two Clayton burglaries on Westmoreland Avenue earlier this fall appear to be connected and remain under investigation, police said Wednesday. The same perpetrators also tried unsuccessfully to break into a house on North Central Avenue and a house on North Bemiston Avenue, Detective Mark Seagle of the Clayton Police Department said. The attempted break-in on Bemiston triggered the house's burglar alarm. The incidents happened in September and October, Seagle said. Simple jewelry and designer handbags were among the things the burglars took. No electronics or money were taken in either case, Seagle said. In one case, a homeowner's two small dogs were found shut in an upstairs bedroom after a burglary. Police think the dogs followed followed…
