A winter storm caused headaches for motorists in much of St. Louis, but it was surprisingly serene on the campus of Washington University in St. Louis.
The winter storm on Thursday may have caused road closures, school closings and canceled flights, but the campus of Washington University in St. Louis remained surprisingly calm during the storm. Wash U posted a video to its YouTube account that included footage from around campus during the Thursday snow. A clip showing a fireplace looked particularly attractive following yesterday's storm. Wednesday, Dec. 12 At 7:29 a.m., graffiti was discovered on a wall in the men's restroom in the Danforth University Center. It was the same tag of graffiti previously found on campus. At 8:31 a.m., an accident involving two vehicles occurred near the Stix International House. No injuries were reported. At 1:40 p.m., graffiti was discovered on a wall in the men's restroom in Mallinckrodt Center. This report marks the fourth discovery of this style of graffiti on campus. A St. Louis man was indicted by a St. Louis County grand jury Wednesday on charges that he abducted and robbed a woman in a Washington University parking lot Aug. 28. William Cobbins, 22, of the 1600 block of Pine Street in St. Louis, was indicted for kidnapping, first-degree robbery and two counts of armed criminal action. St. Louis County Police said Cobbins forced the woman into the driver’s seat of her car at the parking garage at 6985 Snow Way Drive. He got in the back seat and put a knife up to her abdomen and forced her drive to ATMs in three locations, having her withdraw a total of $1,500. The chancellor of Washington University in St. Louis ranks among the most popular nationwide. That's according to a Huffington Post report that reviewed survey results compiled by Glassdoor, a company that combs through information about company reviews, salaries and more. Glassdoor asked university employees to answer a question about their leadership's performance. Mark S. Wrighton, who has been chancellor of WashU since 1995, holds a 96 percent approval rating, according to the report.
