New Allergy Medicine at Walgreens Can't Be Used for Meth

Zephrex-D, a new decongestant touted to fight meth labs, is now available at Walgreens. It's coming to two more major St. Louis area pharmacies in coming weeks.

As previously reported by Patch, Zephrex D was expected to be available in St. Louis area pharmacies in November. It is now rolling out in Walgreens stores.  Zephrex-D is manufactured by Maryland Heights based Highland Pharmaceuticals. Westport Pharmaceuticals is a subsidiary of Highland. Where To Find Free Flu Shots Near Clayton, Richmond Heights

It's almost flu season, so here are a few places where you can stop to get a flu shot in St. Louis.

It's nearly flu season in Clayton and Richmond Heights. Local healthcare providers are encouraging people to get a flu shot soon so they are protected from the flu earlier. It can take two weeks for flu antibodies to develop after you receive a flu shot.  The Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) offers flu shot clinics in September and October at various locations throughout the St. Louis region, including four Krispy Kreme drive-thrus, as well as places of employment by appointment. In addition, walk-ins are always welcome at VNA headquarters in Creve Coeur at 11440 Olive Blvd. #200. Police: Man Stole Percocet From Clayton Pharmacy

The man walked out of Walgreens with the prescription medication after a strange encounter with a clerk, court documents state.

A man was charged July 10 with stealing a Percocet prescription from a Clayton pharmacy. James Romero Jr. dropped off a prescription for Percocet at the Walgreens pharmacy at 6733 Clayton Rd. in March, a report from the Clayton Police Department states. He returned to pick up the prescription at 11:48 p.m. March 10, but his credit card was declined. He then tried to pay with a check that the clerk found suspicious, the report states. When the clerk went to the office with the check, Romero took the medication and left without paying, police stated in court documents. Romero, 41, of the 2200 block of Village Green Parkway in Chesterfield, was charged with stealing a controlled substance. Bond was set at $10,000. For more crime information …

Clayton Customer: Walgreens Switch Slowed Prescription Delivery

The company recently acquired three St. Louis-area pharmacies.

Clayton resident Carol Fichtelman told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that Walgreens' acquisition of an independent pharmacy she used affected delivery of one of her prescriptions. Similar experiences have been described by other people, the newspaper reported. Quoting from the Post-Dispatch article: "Other former customers of the sold pharmacies say they encountered difficulty and delays in arranging for Walgreens to transfer their prescription records to another pharmacy of their choice." Walgreens Decision Means Some Customers in Clayton and Richmond Heights Must Fill Prescriptions Elsewhere

Express Scripts customers who get their medications at the Walgreens in Richmond Heights have until Jan. 1 to choose a new drug store.

The Express Scripts website press room features a news release expressing shock about the decision by Walgreen’s to stop filling prescriptions for the pharmacy provider network based in North St. Louis County.
