He wears his decorated cap every Veterans Day.
Charles Stefanoni wore his medal-decorated cap again on a Veterans Day. He says he wears it for his buddies who can't. He had it on Monday morning at The Heights, where he goes for cardiac rehabilitation. Stefanoni served in the U.S. Army in Europe in World War II. He said his father wanted to sign up for the first World War, but wasn't allowed because he was born in Italy. Stefanoni said the house he grew up in was at 1600 S. Brentwood Boulevard, "where the big office building is now." He said he and his twin sister, the last of eight kids, were born on the kitchen table on a night too snowy to get to the hospital. A plaque for WW I veterans was rededicated on Sunday at The Heights.
