Super Bowl Commercials 2013: Which Were the Best? Which Were Your Favorites?

Super Bowl ads cost as much as $3.8 million in 2013. Which were the best Super Bowl commercials of 2013? Which were your favorite?

Millions of sports enthusiasts watched Super Bowl 47 on Super Bowl Sunday.  Even more, likely, tuned in to watch Super Bowl commercials.  According to Ad Age, CBS essentially sold out its ad inventory for Super Bowl XLVII at prices averaging between $3.7 million and $3.8 million. More from Ad Age: The usual coterie of big sponsors is more or less on board again -- hello, Pepsi! hello Bud Light! -- accompanied by opportunistic, smaller brands that want to make a big splash, such as Century 21 and GoDaddy.com, both of which are also returning to the game. In addition to Ms. Patrick and Mr. Fogle, celebrities and pseudo-celebs on the ad roster will include Willem Dafoe, Amy Poehler, Bar Refaeli, Tracy Morgan, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Psy, …

Super Bowl XLVII Has Clayton Connection

A Clayton attorney has been an on-field NFL official since 2002.

Super Bowl XLVII, in New Orleans, will have a Clayton connection. Joe Larrew, a partner at Hammond and Shinners, P.C., has been a National Football League line judge since 2002, according to the website, Pro-Football Reference.com. He confirmed with Patch that he will be part of the Super Bowl XLVII officiating crew on Sunday. Larrew's jersey number is 73. The NFL doesn't allow interviews of officials before a game. Larrew has worked as a clinician at the Sioux Empire Football Officials Clinic, and is scheduled there this year. The site also gives this background on Larrew. Before the NFL, he worked in the Big Ten Conference and Gateway Conference, and spent three years in NFL-Europe. He was a play clock operator for the St. Louis Rams …

Super Bowl 2013: What Time, Where to Watch in Clayton Richmond Heights

Where in St. Louis do you plan to watch the San Francisco 49ers take on the Baltimore Ravens for Super Bowl 47?

It's already being called the Harbowl: a Super Bowl clash between San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh and Baltimore Ravens coach John Harbaugh. The Harbaughs are the first pair of brothers to work as head coaches in the NFL, and they'll square off for Super Bowl 47 on Feb. 3.  This year, Missouri has a few connections to the big game. St. Louis resident Joe Larrew has been selected as an official for the Super Bowl, Bernie Miklasz of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. Veterans from the University of Missouri football program also are represented on each team: 49ers defensive ends Aldon Smith and Justin Smith and Ravens coach Ted Monachino all played at Mizzou, and Ravens offensive line coach Andy Moeller previously coached there. Jim …

Clayton Resident Details the Anatomy of a Super Bowl Party

Kenny Shapiro and his family have been holding an event in honor of the big NFL game for six years.

Super Bowl Sunday has something for just about everyone. For avid football fans, the NFL’s two best teams duke it out for 60 minutes and leave everything on the field while vying for the Lombardi Trophy. For those who don’t like the gridiron, there’s an arsenal of entertaining commercials or the chance to see a headline-making halftime show a la Janet Jackson’s wardrobe malfunction in 2004. Both of these groups, though, can appreciate one thing that makes this Sunday so special: the Super Bowl party. Recently, I sat down with Clayton resident Kenny Shapiro, the host of a local Super Bowl party for the past six years, to learn the ins and outs of a successful pigskin soirée. The genesis for Shapiro's party came when he and his family did …
