Obit: Ralph Franklin Townsend Jr.

A celebration of life is planned Tuesday in Richmond Heights, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.

Ralph Franklin Townsend Jr. died Aug. 10, 2012, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported. A memorial service is planned Tuesday at Jay B. Smith Funeral Homes in Maplewood, followed by a celebration of life at VFW Post 3500 in Richmond Heights. Read the complete obituary in the Post-Dispatch.

Nelly Lawsuit Involves Clayton Buildings

At issue are two pieces of property on North Meramec Avenue, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.

A lawsuit claims that rap artist Nelly, former St. Louis Rams football player Marshall Faulk and two other people owe money because a loan transaction involving Clayton property went awry, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported. Quoting from the Post-Dispatch article: "The suit alleges that the four, doing business as North Meramec Investors, borrowed about $1.67 million in 2004 and put up the two Clayton properties as collateral." Richmond Heights Welcomes Spanish-Immersion School This Month

International Schoolhouse will operate at 1414 Bellevue Ave., the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.

A Spanish-immersion school previously located in Olivette opens this month in Richmond Heights, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported. Quoting from the Post-Dispatch article: "International Schoolhouse, which opened in 2009 on the campus of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Olivette, needs more room to grow, and the … center's site will allow for that, said Carolina Diaz-Silva, the executive director of the language-immersion school." Clayton Family Prepares for New School Year

Parents and their children will have plenty of deals on supplies to choose from this weekend and beyond, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.

Clayton fifth-grader Dylan Wallach and his mother, Cindy, are among the many families expected to go back-to-shopping for school supplies this summer, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported. County Owes Damages to Trash Haulers, Court Says

The case involves districts set up for unincorporated parts of St. Louis County, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.

A new hearing is planned to determine how much St. Louis County must pay in damages to three trash haulers, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported. Quoting from the Post-Dispatch article: "The Missouri Supreme Court upheld on Tuesday a 2010 St. Louis County Circuit Court ruling that the county violated state law when it failed to give three waste haulers two years' notice before setting up trash districts." Joan H. Hanson, a Fontbonne Theater Instructor, Has Died

She taught throughout the St. Louis area, an obituary from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch states.

Kangaroo Shoe Inventor, a Clayton Graduate, Has Died

Bob Gamm also studied at Washington University, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.

The Clayton High School and Washington University graduate who invented a popular 1980s shoe has died at age 91, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported. Bob Gamm developed shoes called Kangaroos, which included a pocket with a zipper. Quoting from the Post-Dispatch article: "The company sold hundreds of millions of dollars of shoes during the 1980s. Hadley Developer: Eminent Domain Not in Plans

A Pace Properties executive said this week that the company has no intention of using eminent domain to force Hadley Township residents out of their property, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported. Clayton's Pastaria Will Feature Native Missourian in Lead Role
