Shaquilla East was charged with unlawful use of a weapon after being detained for stealing at the mall.
A woman caught shoplifting at the St. Louis Galleria also was carrying a concealed handgun, police said. Shaquilla East, 19, of the 4900 block of Plover Avenue in St. Louis, was charged April 18 with unlawful use of a weapon. Richmond Heights Police said East was detained for shoplifting on April 17 at the Galleria. When police searched her purse, they found a handgun. A man robbed another man in the Saint Louis Galleria parking lot Dec. 7 after placing a false Craigslist ad for an iPhone, according to Richmond Heights Police. Kerron Cowan, 26, of the 300 block of Chapel Hill Road in Hazelwood, was charged Wednesday with first-degree robbery and armed criminal action. Richmond Heights Police said the man and victim agreed to meet in the Saint Louis Galleria parking lot in Richmond Heights after he responded to a Craigslist ad for an iPhone 5. Police said Cowan got into the victim’s car, pulled out a knife with an eight-inch blade and demanded the victim's money. The victim gave him $900 in cash. Walmart announced a Thanksgiving Day start to its sales. Target, Toys R Us, and Best Buy aren't far behind.
Serious shoppers know Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, is the day for bargains. Retailers are opening earlier than ever this year with sales to entice more holiday shoppers. Home Depot started its Black Friday sales on Nov. 8. Walmart has set the bar at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day for 2012 sales to start. Will other stores follow? Macy’s, Target and Toys R Us are among a growing number of shops kicking off Black Friday sales at midnight, the St. Louis Business Journal reports. The Richmond Heights store opened its doors to customers at 10 a.m. Friday.
On Friday morning, hundreds of people gathered to mark the official opening of the Nordstrom department store at the Saint Louis Galleria in Richmond Heights. "It appears we're going to get a lot of new customers," said Pete Nordstrom, the company's president of merchandising. "To have people show up like that is gratifying and rewarding.
