Concealed Gun Found in Galleria Shoplifter's Purse, Police Say

Shaquilla East was charged with unlawful use of a weapon after being detained for stealing at the mall.

A woman caught shoplifting at the St. Louis Galleria also was carrying a concealed handgun, police said. Shaquilla East, 19, of the 4900 block of Plover Avenue in St. Louis, was charged April 18 with unlawful use of a weapon. Richmond Heights Police said East was detained for shoplifting on April 17 at the Galleria. When police searched her purse, they found a handgun. Man Robbed at Knife-Point in Fake Craigslist Deal at Saint Louis Galleria, Police Say

Richmond Heights Police said a man placed a false ad for an iPhone online and met the victim Dec. 7 in the Saint Louis Galleria parking lot.

A man robbed another man in the Saint Louis Galleria parking lot Dec. 7 after placing a false Craigslist ad for an iPhone, according to Richmond Heights Police. Kerron Cowan, 26, of the 300 block of Chapel Hill Road in Hazelwood, was charged Wednesday with first-degree robbery and armed criminal action. Richmond Heights Police said the man and victim agreed to meet in the Saint Louis Galleria parking lot in Richmond Heights after he responded to a Craigslist ad for an iPhone 5. Police said Cowan got into the victim’s car, pulled out a knife with an eight-inch blade and demanded the victim's money. The victim gave him $900 in cash. Nordstrom Opens for Business at Saint Louis Galleria

The Richmond Heights store opened its doors to customers at 10 a.m. Friday.

On Friday morning, hundreds of people gathered to mark the official opening of the Nordstrom department store at the Saint Louis Galleria in Richmond Heights. "It appears we're going to get a lot of new customers," said Pete Nordstrom, the company's president of merchandising. "To have people show up like that is gratifying and rewarding. It's a celebration for our team of employees who have been working so hard to get this store ready to open." Customers seemed to be equally happy about the new store.
