Be advised: Officers trained to evaluate whether drivers are under the influence of drugs or alcohol will apply increased diligence throughout St. Louis County this month.

An increased number of sobriety checkpoints will be stationed throughout St. Louis County this month, announced Rick Eckhard, officer and spokesperson for the St. Louis County Police Department, on Monday morning. "Removing intoxicated drivers from our roadways is a high priority for the St. Louis County Police," stated County Police Chief Tim Fitch in the Monday announcement. "The use of checkpoints has been proven to be an effective method to accomplish this goal." Officers participating in this enforcement had additional training in recognizing motorists who have had too much to drink, or are under the influence of illegal drugs, said Eckhard. Gold Safety Net Secured by Richmond Heights Business Owner

Mike Duke is the proprietor of Missouri Gold Buyers and recently worked with the City of Fenton in support of a law that regulates businesses that buy and sell gold.

The owner of a Richmond Heights company is pushing for a new gold standard in another suburban St. Louis County city. Mike Duke is the proprietor of Missouri Gold Buyers, 2214 S. Big Bend Blvd. He worked with police in Fenton and the city's Board of Aldermen to achieve passage of a law regulating businesses that buy gold and other precious metals. The new regulations will make it easier for police to find gold thieves and return stolen jewelry items to their owners. "I've been pushing for this thing to pass for a long time," Duke said. "It's just stupid not to have a law like this." Under the regulations in Fenton's new law, businesses that buy gold will be required to make a copy of a seller's driver's license, take a photograph of the …

As one who's crossed paths with Ohlsen, I feel fortunate it was only a yard sign prank. I was one of Mike Ocello's opponents in a Mehlville Sch. Dist. race, when I received a call from an unidentified person claiming to be a reporter. He was badgering and belligerent, saying my husband was guilty of stealing Ocello's yard sign. My husband was at the VFW Post at the time. I said I didn't know …   more ›

St. Louis County Residents Advised to Report Fireworks Usage

The use of fireworks is against the law in St. Louis County, but it is permitted in Franklin, Jefferson and St. Charles counties.
