Man Pulls Gun During Parking Space Argument; Tells Police He Felt Threatened

Two men argued over a parking space at SSM St. Mary's Health Center Tuesday, and one pulled a gun, Richmond Heights Police said.

A man faces a criminal charge after police said he displayed a weapon during a dispute over a parking space at SSM St. Mary’s Health Center in Richmond Heights Tuesday. William Hopper, 34, of North Lake Drive in Hillsboro, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon. A man told Richmond Heights Police that he got into an argument with a man driving a black Toyota Corolla, later identified as Hopper, at about 3:50 p.m. Tuesday. He said Hopper pulled into a parking space as he was trying back into the same space in a parking garage. The man told police that they argued and Hopper pulled out a handgun and pointed it out the driver’s side window at him. Tuesday, Oct. 2 A vehicle was stolen overnight from the SSM St. Mary's Health Center parking garage, 6420 Clayton Rd. The victim told police he had parked his mother's car in the garage and found it missing the next day. Perpetrators smashed the window of a back door in the 10 block of Berkshire Drive. The victim told police she saw two people running from the area shortly after she found the damage. Officers canvassed the area but failed to locate the suspects or additional evidence. A person was arrested on suspicion of stealing merchandise totaling roughly $200 at Buckle in the Saint Louis Galleria. The person held while police applied for a warrant…

Man Faces Robbery, Two Stolen Car Charges in Richmond Heights

Police said the Maplewood man took keys and stole man's car near SSM St. Mary's Health Center in August and stole another car last May.

A Maplewood man faces criminal charges after Richmond Heights Police said he took keys from a man near SSM St. Mary’s Health Center and stole his car. He also is accused of stealing another car in Richmond Heights in May. Jarvis McAlister, 21, of the 7700 block of Rannells Ave in Maplewood, was charged Tuesday with second-degree robbery and two counts of stealing a car. Richmond Heights Police said that McAlister took keys from a man about 12:10 a.m. Aug. 12 at 1115 Bellevue Ave., near SSM St. Mary’s. He then stole the man’s 2012 Chevrolet Impala, according to the police report. Police said McAlister also stole a 2012 Ford Fiesta between 11:30 p.m. May 3 and 10:15 a.m. May 4 in the 2100 block of Bellevue Avenue. McAlister is being held in …

Elderly Man Found Dead Outside St. Mary's

The Brentwood resident was found in the parking lot of St. Mary's Health Center in Richmond Heights.

An elderly Brentwood resident was found deceased inside his vehicle outside SSM St. Mary's Health Center Thursday, according to reports. Richmond Heights Police told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch they believe the man was trying to make it into the hospital's emergency room. Richmond Heights Police Maj. Rich Zweifel told the Post, "it doesn't appear foul play was involved." The man was spotted about 4 a.m. by St. Louis paramedics who were in the process of restocking their vehicle after dropping off another patient.  Neil Kiesel, communication director at St. Mary's Health Center, told the Post the man hadn't been a patient at the hospital. The name of the man has not yet been released.

Police: Man Who Tried to Hit Officer is Also Held in Burglary Case

The Eureka man is accused of stealing tools.

A Eureka man faces criminal charges after police said he nearly struck an officer with his SUV on Oct. 1 in a Richmond Heights parking garage. The man also faces a burglary charge in Eureka. Brian Rasdall, 32, of the first block of Hawk Hill Drive in Eureka, is charged with second-degree assault on a law enforcement officer. He also was charged Sept. 27 with second-degree burglary and misdemeanor stealing in Eureka. The Richmond Heights Police Department said an officer responded to a report of an in-progress theft from a car in the SSM St. Mary’s Health Center parking garage. In honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, here's a list of St. Louis-area breast cancer support groups.

One in eight American women and one in 1,000 American men will develop breast cancer at some point in their lives. It’s estimated that more than 2 million people are diagnosed with breast cancer and fight for their lives each year. Breast cancer is difficult to face alone—for both patients and their loved ones. To help in the battle, there are a number of local resources and support groups. In Richmond Heights, the Girl's Night Out Support Group offers education and support for breast cancer survivors, the SSM Cancer Care website states. Police: Suspect Tries to Run Down Officer in St. Mary's Garage

The man is suspected of having broken into two vehicles, the Richmond Heights Police Department reported.

A man has been arrested after trying to run down an officer in the parking garage at SSM St. Mary's Health Center, Richmond Heights police said. The incident happened Monday. It began when the Richmond Heights Police Department received a report of someone trying to break into vehicles in the garage, a blotter entry states. Officers arrived at the garage and chased the suspect, who was driving a personal vehicle. The vehicle hit several parked cars, police said, and at one point the suspect tried to run down an officer. The man broke into two cars and moved one of them to a different level of the garage to try to hide the damage he had caused, police said. Dr. Karen Chen has joined SSM St. Mary's Health Center as a primary care provider in its internal medicine department, a news release issued Thursday states. The hospital is located in Richmond Heights. “A doctor’s visit does not need to be a stressful experience,” Chen stated. “I strive to make my patients feel comfortable and confident in our relationship, so that we may work together towards the common goal of keeping them happy and healthy.” She holds a medical degree from the University of the Philippines and completed her residency at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. She served as chief resident there. Before her residency, she worked as a general medicine practitioner at Healthway Medical Clinics in Manila, Philippines. …
