A man robbed another man in the Saint Louis Galleria parking lot Dec. 7 after placing a false Craigslist ad for an iPhone, according to Richmond Heights Police. Kerron Cowan, 26, of the 300 block of Chapel Hill Road in Hazelwood, was charged Wednesday with first-degree robbery and armed criminal action. Richmond Heights Police said the man and victim agreed to meet in the Saint Louis Galleria parking lot in Richmond Heights after he responded to a Craigslist ad for an iPhone 5. Police said Cowan got into the victim’s car, pulled out a knife with an eight-inch blade and demanded the victim's money. The victim gave him $900 in cash. According to the Washington University Police, the robbery occurred around 12:15 a.m. in the 600 block of Leland (near Leland and Delmar). A man has been charged in connection with the August attempted abduction.
St. Louis County Police have arrested a man in connection with an attempted abduction at Washington University. A student at Wash U reported the abduction attempt in August. A Maplewood man faces criminal charges after Richmond Heights Police said he took keys from a man near SSM St. Mary’s Health Center and stole his car. He also is accused of stealing another car in Richmond Heights in May. Jarvis McAlister, 21, of the 7700 block of Rannells Ave in Maplewood, was charged Tuesday with second-degree robbery and two counts of stealing a car. Richmond Heights Police said that McAlister took keys from a man about 12:10 a.m. Aug. 12 at 1115 Bellevue Ave., near SSM St. Mary’s. He then stole the man’s 2012 Chevrolet Impala, according to the police report. A woman is reporting a robbery and abduction attempt Tuesday at Washington University. The 23-year-old female student reported being approached in the Snow Way garage at about 9:40 p.m. Tuesday, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported. The man suspected of trying to rob the Crowne Plaza St. Louis hotel bar in Clayton earlier this year is expected to be in court Tuesday. Yarom Garcia is charged with second-degree robbery. A Crowne Plaza Hotel employee attempted to rob a hotel bar with pepper spray June 14, but patrons stopped him, according to a report from the Clayton Police Department. Yarom Garcia, 30, of St. Louis, was charged Friday in St. Louis County Circuit Court with second-degree robbery. Garcia had been drinking in the Crowne Plaza’s bar area, according to the report. He left the bar and returned with a T-shirt tied around his face, went behind the bar and sprayed the bartender with pepper spray, the report states. He grabbed cash from the register and tried to leave, but other bar patrons stopped him. Garcia confessed to the robbery, according to the police report. The robbery of a Maplewood Richmond Heights High School student Jan. 10 is under investigation by Richmond Heights police. It happened as the 16-year-old walked along the sidewalk in the 1200 block of Laclede Station Road near a highway overpass, Sgt. Doug Schaeffler of the Richmond Heights Police Department said. A car pulled up beside him, and the passenger pointed a handgun at him before taking several items. Schaeffler declined to say what was taken because an investigation is ongoing. The school received information about the incident and alerted families, he said. Police also have met with the victim's family to keep them updated on the status of the investigation. They think the robbery was a random act, Schaeffler said.
