Shaquilla East was charged with unlawful use of a weapon after being detained for stealing at the mall.
A woman caught shoplifting at the St. Louis Galleria also was carrying a concealed handgun, police said. Shaquilla East, 19, of the 4900 block of Plover Avenue in St. Louis, was charged April 18 with unlawful use of a weapon. Richmond Heights Police said East was detained for shoplifting on April 17 at the Galleria. When police searched her purse, they found a handgun. Two men argued over a parking space at SSM St. Mary's Health Center Tuesday, and one pulled a gun, Richmond Heights Police said.
A man faces a criminal charge after police said he displayed a weapon during a dispute over a parking space at SSM St. Mary’s Health Center in Richmond Heights Tuesday. William Hopper, 34, of North Lake Drive in Hillsboro, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon. A man told Richmond Heights Police that he got into an argument with a man driving a black Toyota Corolla, later identified as Hopper, at about 3:50 p.m. Tuesday. He said Hopper pulled into a parking space as he was trying back into the same space in a parking garage. The man told police that they argued and Hopper pulled out a handgun and pointed it out the driver’s side window at him. Richmond Heights Police are looking for a man who robbed and seriously injured a woman inside a parking garage at SSM St. Mary’s Health Center Saturday. A passersby in the garage found the victim and called 911, according to Fox 2 News. Hospital security staff also responded to the scene. Richmond Heights police Detective Sgt. Gerry Rohr told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that the woman was assaulted and robbed. He said the woman suffered serious injuries and was being treated at the hospital. St. Mary’s issued a statement: “The safety of our patients, visitors and employees is a top priority. Windows in Maplewood and Richmond Heights have been hit recently.
Police in Maplewood and Richmond Heights have decided to beef up nighttime patrols after vandals with BB guns have shot at several homes and cars, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. As Patch reported earlier this week, Maplewood and Richmond Heights police departments have recently reported windows being damaged by a BB gun. In Maplewood, police reported a vehicle window shattered by a shot from a BB gun on Jan. 25 in the 7500 block of West Bruno Avenue. Multiple vehicle windows were damaged the same way in the evening of Jan. 20 in the 2500 block of Valley Avenue. A man injured a Richmond Heights police officer early Friday morning by kicking him in the back of the knee, causing him to collapse to the floor. Richmond Heights Police said the officer went to the hospital with “a severe injury to the back of the knee.” Freddie Shaw, 50, of the 1400 block of Collins Avenue in Richmond Heights, was charged Friday with second-degree assault on an officer and resisting arrest. Richmond Heights Police said officers were dispatched to Shaw’s home for a reported disturbance at about 12:39 a.m. Friday. A man robbed another man in the Saint Louis Galleria parking lot Dec. 7 after placing a false Craigslist ad for an iPhone, according to Richmond Heights Police. Kerron Cowan, 26, of the 300 block of Chapel Hill Road in Hazelwood, was charged Wednesday with first-degree robbery and armed criminal action. Richmond Heights Police said the man and victim agreed to meet in the Saint Louis Galleria parking lot in Richmond Heights after he responded to a Craigslist ad for an iPhone 5. Police said Cowan got into the victim’s car, pulled out a knife with an eight-inch blade and demanded the victim's money. The victim gave him $900 in cash.
