Mid-County Readers Say The Piccadilly Has the Best Barbecue

The Piccadilly, in Maplewood, is the winner of this week's Food Fight, in which we asked readers for their choice for the best Mid-County barbecue spots.  The Piccadilly won with 47 percent of the vote among the five finalists. The results among the other finalists were: Voting in our barbecue Food Fight poll started Wednesday morning and ended at 5 p.m. Thursday afternoon. Congratulations to The Piccadilly for winning this week's readers' choice battle. We look forward to hearing from you again in next week's edition of Food Fight.

When we asked Patch readers for their favorite St. Patrick's Day celebration spots in Mid-County, we got some suggestions. Mid-County Patch Readers Say Cyrano's Is the Most Romantic Place for a Valentine's Day Dinner

We had great participation for our Valentine's Day edition of Mid-County Food Fight. Here are your other top picks.

The people have spoken (or, at least, some of the people): Cyrano's Cafe & Wine Bar is the most romantic place to go in Mid-County for a Valentine's Day dinner. Our Valentine's Day poll garnered 32 votes. Readers submitted romantic recommendations via our comments section, Facebook and Twitter. There were seven restaurants in Mid-County that garnered votes—Acero Ristorante, Eclipse Restaurant, Cyrano's, Cafe Provencal, Mosaic-Des Peres, One 19 North and Citizen Kane's Steakhouse. I fondly remember the original one on Demun. Had the cool Marantz (or was it Mcintosh?) stereo system on the steps leading downstairs to the Rathskeller. The basement Cyranos was the best place to go on a date. I believe it later briefly moved into the Shakey's Pizza on Big Bend, then many years later reopened in Webster...Nothing like splitting a Cleopatra on a date there!   more ›

Mid-County Patch Readers Say twinOak Has the Best Pizza

We had a great debut to our first Mid-County Food Fight. Here are your other top picks.

The people have spoken (or, at least, some of the people): twinOak Wood Fired Fare has the best pizza in Mid-County. TwinOak, located at 1201 Strassner Dr. in Brentwood, received 27 percent of the vote in our first Food Fight poll. Pi Pizzeria, located in Kirkwood and near University City, and Dewey's Pizza, located in Kirkwood, University City and Webster Groves, tied for second place with 15 percent each. La Pizza in University City came in fourth place with 10 percent. Voting took place from Wednesday morning until Thursday at 5 p.m. Congratulations, twinOak, and thank you to all who participated in the Food Fight by voting in the poll and leaving comments on the site.
