Dr. Dan Gutchewsky has been named interim principal at Clayton High School (CHS) through the end of the 2012-13 school year, the School District of Clayton announced Monday morning. He succeeds Dr. Louise Losos, who will resign June 30 after a dispute over social media use. “I am excited and grateful for the opportunity to lead Clayton High School,” Gutchewsky stated in a news release from the district. “I look forward to leading our community through all of our end-of-the-year events and working next year to ensure that CHS continues to meet the high expectations held by our students, parents and community.” Gutchewsky has worked in the Clayton district for 11 years, 10 of which have been as an administrator at CHS. Dr. Louise Losos has an extensive educational background and has served actively at Clayton High School since 2005. The principal is expected to resign later this year after a dispute over social media use, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Saturday. She holds a doctorate in education from Saint Louis University, a master's degree in history from Washington University and a bachelor's degree in history from Harvard University, a biography posted to the CHS website states. Dr. Louise Losos has taken a leave of absence from her role as principal of Clayton High School (CHS). The leave began Monday. "This is both a personal issue for Louise and a personnel matter for the district," stated Chris Tennill, chief communications officer for the School District of Clayton, in an email. "As this involves personnel, we are not able to provide any additional details at this time." Interim Superintendent Sharmon Wilkinson notified CHS parents and staff of the leave Friday in a letter. Two new administrators will provide leadership at Maplewood Richmond Heights elementary and middle schools starting July 1, the MRH School District announced late Tuesday morning. Clayton-based Bond Wolfe Architects recently received an honorable mention at the 2011 Shirley Cooper and Walter Taylor Juried Architectural Awards for its design of additions to* the Maplewood Richmond Heights Early Childhood Center. The early childhood center's additions were highlighted for their use of scale, color and texture, as well as its integration of outdoor spaces. Bond Wolfe headed the $2.7 million renovation project completed in 2009. The center follows the Reggio Emilia method of teaching. This method focuses heavily on the learning environment, which proponents sometimes refer to as the "third teacher."
