Niche by Gerard Craft Opens November 1 in Clayton

The restaurant operates currently in Benton Park, Sauce Magazine's The Scoop blog reported.

Gerard Craft's restaurant Niche will open Nov. 1 in downtown Clayton, Sauce Magazine's The Scoop blog reported. Quoting from The Scoop: "Gerard Craft announced via Twitter that he will be closing Niche’s Benton Park location on Oct. 18 and reopening the restaurant at its new home in Centene Plaza, located on the southwest corner of Forsyth Boulevard and Hanley Road in Clayton, on Nov. 1." Pastaria by Niche in Clayton Generates National Buzz Ahead of Launch

The Gerard Craft restaurant received recognition from the national blog eater.com, the St. Louis Business Journal reported.

Gerard Craft's forthcoming restaurant Pastaria by Niche in Clayton is among the most highly anticipated new eateries in the United States, the St. Louis Business Journal reported. Quoting from the Business Journal article: "National restaurant, bar and nightlife blog eater.com has named Pastaria by Niche in St. Louis one of the 33 most anticipated restaurant openings of fall 2012." While it's not clear when the eagerly awaited Pastaria by Niche will open for business in downtown Clayton, restaurateur Gerard Craft told aldermen earlier this year that he planned to launch the business in early September. Niche Liquor License Gets OK from Aldermen

It happened Tuesday.

A liquor license has been approved for restaurateur Gerard Craft's much-anticipated Clayton restaurants. The Clayton Board of Aldermen on Tuesday voted unanimously to approve the license, which will be used at Niche and Pastaria by Niche. The restaurants will be housed at Centene Plaza, 7734 Forsyth Blvd. Craft told aldermen that Pastaria is expected to open at the beginning of September, followed by Niche in late October or early November. WATCH: Centene Plaza, As Built in 90 Seconds

Viewers can watch Clayton's Centene Plaza get built in less than 2 minutes in a  YouTube video posted by Clayco earlier this year. The facility opened in June 2010 and houses such companies as Centene Corporation and Armstrong Teasdale. It will soon host acclaimed Chef Gerard Craft's Niche and Pastaria by Niche.

Future Clayton Restaurateur Gerard Craft Cooks on NBC's 'Today'

His restaurant Niche will open this spring at Centene Plaza.

Chef Gerard Craft—whose restaurants Niche and Pastaria by Niche soon will arrive in Clayton—appeared on NBC's Today show this week to share several recipes. Quoting from the Today website: "Chef Gerard Craft shares three mouth-watering recipes, including a winter vegetable salad and for dessert, lemon and pistachio rice pudding." Aldermen Agenda: Davis Place Parking, Solar Devices, Niche Permit

The Clayton Board of Aldermen will meet beginning at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Members of the Clayton Board of Aldermen are expected to vote Tuesday on an amended Davis Place parking ordinance. Two weeks ago, aldermen postponed a vote so city officials could look into residents' concerns about restrictions on West Biltmore and Mohawk drives. Central Presbyterian Church has agreed to hold off on taking down three houses it owns in the neighborhood as long as the city relaxes on-street parking restrictions in the area. Niche and Pastaria Will Bring Local Ingredients to Clayton

Niche is based in St. Louis city and is expected to open at Centene Plaza in the spring.

Gerard Craft, an innovative chef and businessman, is bringing his restaurant Niche to Centene Plaza in Clayton. While some St. Louis city residents might feel a sense of abandonment—Niche is leaving its original location at 1831 Sidney St. in Benton Park—Craft remains the owner of the building in Benton Park and has no plans to sell: His parents own a condominium above the restaurant space.
