A new business in downtown Clayton plans to serve as both a cocoa bar and a beauty salon. Sip Salon, 7818 Forsyth Blvd., is owned by Sharon Hall. The larger, 800-square-foot section of the building would feature seating for eight people and sell cocoa and coffee, along with scones, bagels and other food items, a memo from City Manager Craig Owens and planning director Susan Istenes states. The smaller, 150-square-foot section would feature a beauty salon. Additional seating for six people would be available in a common hallway. The two services would be separated by a glass-paneled wall. The facility eventually would be open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily. Assistant Superintendent Karen Hall will succeed her effective July 1, the school district announced Friday morning.
Dr. Linda Henke announced Friday that she will retire June 30 as superintendent of the Maplewood Richmond Heights School District. She will be succeeded by Assistant Superintendent Karen Hall, a move that has been planned for four years. "It's been the best job," Henke said in an interview. She said Hall has "grown into that position beautifully." Roxanna Mechem, a reading teacher and instructional specialist at MRH Middle School, will succeed Hall as assistant superintendent. I am sad to see Dr. Henke retired. She has done a fantastic job as our school leader. One thing that impresses me about her is her devotion to our families. She knows every kid in the district as well as parents/grand parents by name. I have every confidence Karen Hall will be a great leader, but I will miss Dr. Henke   more ›
