DeMun Oyster Bar Offers Great Food, Friendly Service

The eatery, which opened in December in Clayton, offers a fresh variety of seafood and more.

Although DeMun Oyster bar just recently opened its doors, the eatery is already quite the hotspot. Scores of hungry diners laughed, drank and partook of the joy that is freshly shucked oysters on a recent day in Clayton. Lively music wafted through the room, though it could barely be heard over the din of the crowd. "We are consistently busy here," co-owner Rachel Jones said. "I love it." The trendy restaurant sits in a prime location: DeMun Avenue offers plenty of foot traffic from residents and visitors of nearby Jimmy's on the Park and Sasha's. The event, in its second year, features 19 local eateries that will offer three-course meals.

Clayton's much anticipated Restaurant Week returns for its second year Jan. 24-30. During this promotion, 19 area restaurants will offer a three-course dinner for $25, not including tax and tip. Many of Clayton's finest restaurants are participating, including The Crossing, Jimmy's on the Park and Mosaic Bistro Market. With a wide variety of food being offered, there is sure to be something to please every diner. But deciding which of the 19 restaurants you'll dine at is no easy task. Second Set at Jimmy’s is Full of Surprises

A host of jazz musicians walk into Jimmy’s on the Park in Clayton for the 10 p.m. set on Wednesdays.

Walking down DeMun Avenue and making it through the door at Jimmy's on the Park on a Wednesday night reminds one of being in New York's Greenwich Village.  At Sasha's Wine Bar next door, Gene Lind is singing, and from Jimmy's comes the sound of music from the '50s, '60s and—if it's after 10 p.m.—some great-sounding jazz.       For the last seven years, the Charlie B Trio has been playing on Wednesday nights at Jimmy's on the Park in Clayton.  The groups consists of Mark Friedrich on keyboards, Charlie Boehme on vocals and Jim Manley on trumpet.
