During the Richmond Heights meeting on Monday, city council members unanimously approved a resolution allowing city officials to renegotiate terms with Mullenix-Richmond Heights Redevelopment Corp. The developer plans to build another parking garage and hotel on the southeast corner of 2.54 acres at the southeast corner of Brentwood Boulevard and Clayton Road. “This allows us to negotiate the major business points of the project,” said City Manager Amy Hamilton. “Then, we’ll bring it back to the city council, and if they give their approval then we’ll formally put the time frame out there.” She said the negotiations would totally rework the construction project’s time frame. Originally, the agreement called for Mullenix to begin on the …

The Richmond Heights City Council meeting Monday figures to be a short one, with few items on the agenda. The council has one resolution on the ballot regarding a development agreement with Mullenix-Richmond Heights Redevelopment Corp. The developer plans to build another parking garage and hotel on the southeast corner of 2.54 acres at the southeast corner of Brentwood Boulevard and Clayton Road. “They’re asking for an extension,” said City Manager Amy Hamilton. “We wanted to give them adequate time. The deadline to begin on the hotel is Dec. 31, and they notified us they will not be able to meet that deadline. Obviously, since they haven’t started yet they’re not going to meet that deadline.” The developers plan to build a second hotel …

At issue are several acres of land at the southeast corner of the intersection in Richmond Heights.
Development at the intersection of Brentwood Boulevard and Clayton Road is among the discussion topics planned Monday by the Richmond Heights City Council. At issue is whether a Community Improvement District (CID) should be formed for roughly 2.54 acres at the southeast corner of the intersection, a notice from the City of Richmond Heights states. A public hearing to discuss a CID will happen during the council's 7:30 p.m. meeting at City Hall. Such districts are "organized for the purpose of financing a wide range of public-use facilities and establishing and managing policies and public services related to the needs of the district," the website Missouri Development states. The council on Nov. 21 authorized Mayor James Beck to sign a …

The St. Louis BBB is warning fans who are traveling to Texas for the World Series about suspicious hotel offers.
On Monday, the St. Louis Better Business Bureau warned Cardinal nation about World Series ticket scams. Tuesday came an alert about hotel ads targetting fans who may be scrambling to find accommodations in the Dallas area. The BBB said the ads are cropping up on Craigslist. The alert A release from the BBB reads in part: Several ads for World Series hotel packages on a classified ad site claimed to offer tickets for a Rams-Cowboys game along with the hotel, a tip-off that the person who placed the ad may not be familiar with the teams in the World Series, the Cardinals and the Texas Rangers. Some ads are full of misspellings, which also can be a characteristic of fraudulent ads. “Sports fans may be anxious to get a hotel room near the …

Board of Aldermen approve extending zoning, planning designations for properties at North Central and Maryland avenues.
Some Meramec and North Central avenue residents opposed to the Clayton Board of Aldermen renewing rezoning and planning designations for several development project. “This is my neighborhood,” said Suzanne Forsyth, a resident of the 100 block of South Central. Forsyth said the commercial area is encroaching on the residential area. “I am opposed to rezoning 119 North Central simply because they’ve now entered the residential area. I don’t care what they do with the rest of it, but not that one lot.” The board voted 4-0 to extend the rezoning and planned unit development (PUD) designations for one year. The original developer, RJ York SSG, had the lots at 25, 103, 111 and 119 North Central Ave. rezoned and designated as a planned unit …

The tour of The Cheshire hotel renovation in Richmond Heights happened Wednesday afternoon.
When The Cheshire hotel reopens Aug. 5 in Richmond Heights, one of the services general manager Harry Lunt hopes to provide might seem to some a contrast to its Old World air: a charging station for electric cars. To Lunt, the dichotomy makes sense. He and other representatives of Lodging Hospitality Management have been soliciting feedback from people who frequented the hotel in times past. They hope to bring a mix of old and new to visitors. "'It's the old classic inn, but how do we reinvent it?'" Lunt said Wednesday, describing how he and The Cheshire team have approached the project. He spoke at The Heights community center during a meeting of the Richmond Heights Chamber of Commerce. Chamber members got an inside look at construction…
