Mitten Victory Likely Means April Election in Richmond Heights

District 3 Councilwoman Gina Mitten won Tuesday's primary for 83rd District state representative.

A special election is not planned this year in Richmond Heights after District 3 Councilwoman Gina Mitten's victory in the Tuesday primary, a city official said. Mitten is expected to become the 83rd District state representative for Missouri beginning in January. She won Tuesday's primary against fellow Democrat James Trout and will run unopposed in the Nov. 6 election. Mitten can continue serving on the council until she takes office in Jefferson City, said Irene Johnson, communications coordinator for Richmond Heights. Her seat will then likely remain empty until April, at which time a new council representative will be chosen by voters in a special election.
