We all know Fitz's is a great place for freshly bottled soda in all of our favorite flavors. But did you know that you can get your coffee jolt from their soda as well? Coffee Cup News soda was put together using real sugar cane and real coffee from Kaldi’s Coffee, which got its start in Clayton. Coffee Cola According to reviewer Jason Coffee, Fitz’s Cola is unique because it uses all natural ingredients and never made the switch to high fructose corn syrup. "This coffee cola really is the best melding of these two flavors I have ever tasted," he said in his review. For those who aren't there yet, here is a primer on celebrating anniversaries with a small child. It's fun—really!
My wife and I celebrated our four-year anniversary on March 22. In honor of the event, I took two days off. Anniversaries are a delight regardless of the circumstances. But they are admittedly different when a baby—in our case, Micah—is part of the equation. For our one-year anniversary, Julie and I took a trip to Chicago. We stayed on the Magnificent Mile, ate out and visited various sites of interest. Day One of this year's anniversary staycation featured a visit to Julie's grandparents in the New Melle area for breakfast. Then we took a trip to the studios of our wonderful friend Katie of St. Charles-based Kay Web Photography. Micah was due for his 9-month photos. The Fatted Calf in Clayton wins this week's Food Fight.
We have a winner! The readers have spoken and the Fatted Calf in Clayton is the winner of this week's Mid-County Food Fight hamburger challenge. Our hamburger poll garnered lots of votes and strong opinions this week. Patch readers had a lot to say about their hamburgers. Here are a few of their comments: There were seven other restaurants that garnered votes — Blueberry Hill, Fitz's American Grill and Three Kings in University City; Carl's Drive-In, Cousin Hugos and Crow's Nest in the Maplewood-Brentwood area; and the Trainwreck Saloon in Rock Hill.
