A woman charged with making a false report to Clayton police is a registered nurse in Missouri who has been disciplined by state regulators for abusing drugs on the job. A conviction on the charge she now faces could result in her losing her license. Stacy L. Warren of Fenton faces one count of making a false report in connection with an incident in early September. She first told police a man who appeared to be a police officer had attacked her, but she later recanted that statement, the Clayton Police Department said. She previously has been disciplined in Missouri and Illinois for abusing drugs and alcohol while employed as a St. Louis nurse in the early 1990s. Charges were filed Wednesday against a woman who claimed to have been assaulted in Clayton by someone posing as a police officer, the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office said. Stacy Warren, 47, of the 2200 block of Maximaus Drive in Fenton, faces one count of making a false report. On Sept. 5, Warren told the Clayton Police Department that a man who appeared to be a police officer dragged her from her car and assaulted her. An investigation by Clayton police revealed several inconsistencies in the woman’s statement. Police announced the following day that when they pressed her, she acknowledged she made the story up. A woman who reported being assaulted Wednesday by a man who appeared to be a police officer has recanted her story, the Clayton Police Department stated. Investigators found inconsistencies in the victim's statement, and she withdrew her assault claim during a second interview, police stated late Thursday afternoon in a news release. She has not explained why she made the report. The St. Louis County Prosecutor's Office will review the case to decide whether charges of filing a false police report should be filed.
