Harold Sanger took over the reins from Linda Goldstein Tuesday night.
After six years as mayor and eight more on the Clayton board of aldermen, Linda Goldstein officiated her final meeting Tuesday night in Clayton. After the board certified the April 2 election results, Goldstein adjourned the meeting. Harold Sanger was sworn in as the new mayor. The final certified vote tally was as follows: The totals did not change from the unofficial totals reported on election night. Sanger said the evening's proceedings, which included several tributes to Goldstein and her service to the city, were not about the person in the mayor's seat. Megan Moylan has defeated Mark T. Cockson, 169 to 77 in the race to fill Gina Mitten's vacated Richmond Heights Council 3 seat on the Richmond Heights City Council. Moylan said she is looking forward to the challenge. The three-way race to replace Clayton Mayor Linda Goldstein has been won by Harold Sanger, a retired businessman and former Clayton alderman. "I'm blown away," Sanger told Patch. He added that he was "exhausted" after a long election day, but was celebrating the win with his "wonderful family and supporters." Almonds Restaurant and City Coffee House are among the contributors to Alex Berger III's campaign to become the next mayor of Clayton. That's according to campaign finance reports filed with the Missouri Ethics Commission. Documents show that Berger III raised $13,710 through Feb. 20. About $11,000 of that was received between Jan. 1 and Feb. 16, 2013, which is the most recent filing period. The rest of the contributions were made before then. Berger III is running against Ward 2 Alderwoman Michelle Harris and former alderman Harold Sanger. Documents show that Ward 2 Alderwoman Michelle Harris raised $18,225 through Feb. 21 in her effort to become the next mayor of Clayton. That's according to campaign finance reports filed with St. Louis County. About $5,000 in monetary contributions were received in January and most of February, which is the most recent filing period. I also concur that moving the library to the high school campus is an awful idea. The high school campus is already congested by the early childcare center and the Center of Clayton. The public library does not belong on a high school campus, plain and simple.
