Clayton Schools: 'Leadership Transition' is Temporary at High School

Dr. Dan Gutchewsky, the school's acting principal, encouraged faculty in an email to continue working together while Dr. Louise Losos is on a leave of absence.

The transition in leadership referenced in an email from Clayton High School's acting principal is simply an acknowledgment of the temporary changes implemented while Dr. Louise Losos is on a leave of absence, an official said Tuesday. A faculty email from Dr. Dan Gutchewsky, the school's acting principal, describes the need for a smooth transition while Losos is on leave, said Chris Tennill, chief communications officer for the School District of Clayton. "Clayton High School is a special place and the responsibility of the principal is to be a good steward of the vision of CHS," Gutchewsky stated in the email. "This stewardship requires us to work together to identify the issues facing our school and develop solutions to these problems. …

VIDEO: Centennial Plaza at Clayton High School is Dedicated

The ceremony happened Tuesday morning.

Supporters applauded Tuesday to dedicate a new Clayton High School plaza meant to highlight the facility's entrance and serve as a community gathering place. "It's been a labor of love," said Sue Hodapp, who co-chaired the CHS Centennial Plaza Fundraising Committee and whose son, Andy, is a sophomore at the school. The project evolved and overcame challenges to become something larger in scope than organizers had initially planned. She said she hopes people reflect on 100 years of excellence at CHS when they see the plaza, whose anchor is the 10-ton globe sculpture that once stood next to the building.
