Clayton to Hold Hearings for Dent Devil, Central Presbyterian

The public hearings will be held tonight at the City of Clayton's board of aldermen meeting.

The Clayton Board of Aldermen is slated to meet tonight at 7 p.m. in the council chambers at Clayton City Hall. Items on the agenda include: REPORT FROM THE CITY MANAGER The meeting is open to the public.

This week's News from the Pews feature includes a look at a yoga class happening Thursday in Clayton and a memorial concert planned Sunday that will commemorate the life of a former Concordia Seminary artist-in-residence. Yoga class planned Thursday at First Congregational Church These days, we could all use a deep breath. First Congregational Church of St. Louis is offering a way for Clayton residents to slow down and breathe deeply—yoga classes. The first of this year’s yoga classes is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Thursday. There is no cost associated with the class. Participants only need to bring a yoga sticky mat and their unwanted stress. To promote flexibility, it is suggested that participants refrain from eating for roughly two hours …

Seminarian Pursues Heavy Metal and Heavenly Message

The bassist for the band Megadeth is now a student at Concordia Seminary in Clayton.

*Editor's note: An earlier version of this article incorrectly indicated Dave Ellefson's status with the band Megadeth. He continues to play bass with the band. This article has been updated to reflect that fact. Concordia Seminary in Clayton welcomed students back to campus for the fall quarter last week, including many who worked for years in a profession before deciding to pursue a life of full-time church work. And while Dave Ellefson is one them, his first career is* a bit unconventional—he plays* bass in the heavy-metal band Megadeth. Now, he's studying to be a Lutheran pastor. Ellefson is enrolled in the school’s Specific Ministry Program (SMP). As part of Concordia’s distance learning program, Ellefson will work with a local mentor…
