February 6 is the first day high school seniors can confirm their college choices. The University of Missouri, Ohio State and Oklahoma State are among the NCAA schools looking to St. Louis for recruits.
College coaches are getting their money's worth out of fax machines today. College football's championship game on Jan. 7, 2013, will feature the top two teams in the country. Are you looking for a place to watch the game in St. Louis?
We're nearing the end of college football's bowl game season. At 7:30 p.m. Central on Monday, Jan. 7, the BCS National Championship Game will feature Notre Dame vs. Alabama. The game is scheduled for ESPN. The game includes at least one local tie to St. Louis. De Smet Jesuit's Andy Bauer, a junior offensive lineman, and one of the top prospects in the class of 2014, has been heavily recruited by Nick Saban's Crimson Tide. He was a guest of Alabama at the Iron Bowl game vs. Auburn earlier this season. The Sporting News offers some predictions with a pregame analysis on its website. The University of Missouri may not be going to a postseason bowl game for the first time since 2004, but there are plenty of intriguing football bowl games on the schedule this year. At 7 p.m. on Friday, January 4, the AT&T Cotton Bowl will feature a local St. Louis tie as Oklahoma takes on Texas A&M. Durron Neal, a De Smet Jesuit standout, has seen limited action in his freshman season for the Sooners as a wide receiver. In an interesting return to a previous Big 12 matchup, the Oklahoma Sooners, who won a share of the Big 12 championship, will face the Texas A&M Aggies, who recently moved from the Big 12 conference to the SEC.
