Clayton Board to Review Sign Ordinance, Artists Guild Lease

The Clayton Board of Aldermen meet on Tuesday, May 14.

The Clayton Board of Aldermen is set to review its sign ordinance at its discussion session Tuesday, May 14, at Clayton City Hall.  The board is slated to hold the discussion at 6:15 p.m., followed by a 7 p.m. board meeting. Items on the agenda include: Public Hearing City Manager's Report The meeting is open to the public.

How Long Will You Wait to See An ER Doc in Clayton, Richmond Heights?

New Medicare database shows how hospitals across serving the region — and the rest of the nation — compare for care. Would the wait times for area emergency rooms surprise you?

If you go to the emergency room in Missouri, how long will it take before you see a medical professional? The federal government says 36 minutes on average. For residents of Clayton-Richmond Heights Patch, whose closest emergency room options are SSM St. Mary's Health Center and Barnes-Jewish Hospital, that's not good news: Wait times at both hospitals were above the state average—six minutes more for St. Mary's and much longer at Barnes. Annual Uniform Day Memorial Ceremony Held Friday

The event honors fallen public servants.

The Thirty-Sixth Annual Uniform Day Memorial Ceremony was held Friday, May 10 behind Police Headquarters in Clayton. Participating in the program were a police and fire honor guard, a police rifle squad and the St. Louis County Police Pipes and Drums. The traditional ceremony consisted of the posting of colors, a roll call of the deceased and a 16 volley shotgun salute. Several police and fire departments from around the St. Louis area participated in the ceremony. According to a press release, the wearing of dress uniforms by all commissioned personnel, regardless of assignment, serves as a visual affirmation of the commitment of these public safety providers to their chosen profession.  May 15 is Peace Officers Memorial Day. Commerce Bank Re-Issues Cards Throughout Schnucks Territory

The cost to the bank has been "significant," an executive said.

Customers of Commerce Bank should keep an eye on the mail. You're likely getting new debit cards, even if you didn't ask for one. Clayton-based Commerce Bancshares confirms that customers throughout the region are getting new cards as a precaution following a security breach at Schnucks grocery stores around the area that compromised customer financial data. Carl Bradbury, Commerce's Director of Consumer Products, wouldn't identify Schnucks by name in an interview Thursday but did acknowledge "a large event" where cards were considered compromised, prompting the move. The decision to re-issue does not mean that a customer's card was necessarily compromised, but that it was used during a time period where others were. Bradbury also said …

May Brings Plenty of Activity at Colonial MarketPlace

Original Pancake House is open; Cini opens this coming week and Ivy Hill Boutique holds an official opening tonight.

The Colonial MarketPlace in Ladue and Clayton is crazy busy. While workers are feverishly getting construction done, other places are “open for business” or will do so, this coming week or next. Cini Italian Chow has a store front taking employment applications. While fixtures are in place, construction on Cini will come down to the wire for a May 7 launch.  “This is our second location. We are on South Grand in the flats area. Think of us as a Chipolte but we are Italian, not Mexican,” said David Clark, their general manager. The Original Pancake House is swarming with customers, sampling the apple and Dutch pancakes while sipping fresh orange juice from their $10,000 Zumex processor, purchased directly from Denmark.  Other businesses …

The first farmers market of the year opens at 8:30 a.m. Saturday.

You know it's spring when the Clayton Farmers Market returns. This weekend marks the opening market of the 2013 season. The Farmers Market will be open with a "Call to the Market" on bagpipes at 8:30 a.m. in the parking lot next to Straubs.
