Walker played running back, wide receiver and safety for the Greyhounds.

Clayton High School senior Tyler Walker, on Wednesday, signed a letter of intent to play football for Lindenwood University in the fall. Walker has been a four-year member of the CHS varsity football team, where he played running back, wide receiver and safety. “Lindenwood has the best facilities and will give me the opportunity to get a great education,” Walker said. He is considering a business major but is currently undecided. Walker has also been a member of the CHS basketball and track teams while at CHS. He is the son of Tango Walker. Clayton senior David Neville will play football at Tufts University this fall, and senior Aaron Adams will join the football program at Missouri Valley College. Clayton Prevails Over Jennings, Rain in 1st Round District Game

The favored Clayton football team came through strong in the second half.

After holding Jenning's on the goal line with seconds on the clock in the first half, Clayton went on to win the game in blowing rain 45-22. The Greyhounds goal line stand held the score to a 19-14 Clayton lead at the half. See more game photos at Clayton-Richmond Heights Facebook. (Like it!) Jennings finishes its season at 2-7. No. 2 seed, Clayton, improves to 7-3. The Greyhounds will go on to play on Wednesday, Oct. 31 in the next round, against the winner of tomorrow's Gateway (5-3) vs. St. Charles West (6-3) game.

Clayton, MRH District Football Begins This Week

In the new Missouri system, every team has a shot at a state title.

High school football coaches were busy cramming about prospective opponents over the weekend. They left the field Friday and Saturday afternoon, still not quite sure who they'd be playing this week in the new state football playoff system that now includes the "district system" used in other sports, with seeding thanks to a point differential that made every score count. Saturday evening, that schedule was released. Here's how it all will start shaking out for our schools. Both games are at home for our teams. Clayton is the no. 2 seed in their district. If they were to pass around game balls following the John Burroughs 56-0 demolition of Clayton Saturday, they’d have to have a lot of them. Many Bombers players on both offense and defense were worthy of recognition. Zeke Elliott scored 3 more TDs, adding to his gaudy total of 28 for the year. That’s 70 TDs the past two seasons for this senior star. Peter Schnuck caught 2 touchdown passes and had an interception. Linebackers Christian Bledsoe and Xavier Bledsoe and Solo Ceesay chased Greyhound QB Jake Brown all over the field. They didn’t yield a point in 4 quarters. Rushil Shetz was perfect on all of his 7 point after kicks. But no resting on any laurels for this 7-0 team. They travel to Maplewood Friday night, 7 p.m. for the small school…

Controversy erupted last year after Horrell, a physical education teacher, was dismissed as head football coach following an investigation into the violation of Missouri athletics by-laws.

Former Clayton High School (CHS) football coach Sam Horrell will not return as a physical education* teacher this fall, the district confirmed Wednesday.
