A man smashed a car through a closed garage door in Clayton after the homeowner confronted him Sept. 29 during a burglary, police said. Charles M. Finley, 20, of University City is suspected of entering an attached garage at about 12:30 a.m. Sept. 29 in the 200 block of Gay Avenue, the Clayton Police Department stated. He began going through a car and stole a cellphone and Cardinals baseball tickets, according to the police report. When the homeowner entered the garage and confronted him, Finley started the 2012 GMC Arcadia and backed through the garage door, causing $2,200 in damage, the report states. A perpetrator grabbed a Richmond Heights resident's keys and took off with his car, the Richmond Heights Police Department reported this month. It happened Aug. 12. The victim had returned home to his apartment complex in the 1100 block of Bellevue Avenue when a person approached him on the parking lot and asked for money and directions. The victim refused to give him money, at which point the suspect took the keys out of his hand and fled in the victim's car. The car was located in the City of Berkeley using OnStar. Officers found a cellphone inside the vehicle that did not belong to the victim. An investigation was ongoing. More recent weird crime on Patch:
