Forbes: Z Pizza Among Nation's Best New Chains

The popularity of artisan pizza is rising, according to their "Better Pizza" report.

Z Pizza, a chain specializing in organic pizza, pasta and salads, opened shop in Clayton in March. General manager Scott Newhouse told Patch that business in the first two weeks exceeded his expectations.  Have you already tried z pizza? Rate your experience in the comments! Artisinal pizza chains, like Z Pizza, are growing in popularity, according to a recent Forbes report. They named the restaurant among '13 tasty new chains to try.' The chain will have an estimated 115 locations by the end of this year, according to the report. "Additive- and preservative-free, featuring 100 percent whole-wheat pizza dough, zpizza was early out of the gate in the organic/natural pizza niche, and is the biggest chain in the sector," Forbes writes.  Z …

New chains? Z Pizza has been around almost as long as Papa Johns. Anyway, I went there a few weeks ago & the turkey sandwich I got was pretty good but the slice of my friend's cheese pizza that I ate was just ok.   more ›

Katie Lee's New Restaurant Will Feature Living Wall of Herbs

The second venture from the Katie's Pizzeria owner will also have pastas and sauces made in-house, Sauce Magazine reports.

Katie Lee, and her business partner and fiance Ted Collier, are hard at work on their new space in Rock Hill at 9568 Manchester Rd. Katie's Pizza and Pasta was funded with the help of a successful Kickstarter effort, and backers won't have to wait long to enjoy the fruits of their contributions--the pair is hoping to open in July, Sauce Magazine reports. The new space will include artisan cooking elements such as a wood-burning oven and living wall of herbs, according to Sauce.  Several foods--from the pastas to sauce and cheeses--will be produced in-house, they report. Dough Raised: Katie's Pizzeria Hits Fundraising Goal for New Restaurant

Kickstarter supporters helped Katie Lee raise more than $40,000 to open a new artisan pizza and pasta spot in Rock Hill.

There's still a day left for Katie’s Pizzeria fans to contribute to owner Katie Lee's Kickstarter to open a new restaurant.  Supporters helped her raise the full $40,000 required to receive funding, which she will use to expand her artisan cooking to Rock Hill. And it's no surprise--Katie’s Pizzeria has won Best Pizza from Sauce Magazine four out of its five years in business. Lee launched the Kickstarter campaign in late January in hopes of opening Katie's Pizza and Pasta. In exchange for their financial support, Lee is offering perks from a complimentary drink to a pizza designed and named in the backer's honor. The Katie's Pizzeria owner is inviting backers to attend a cocktail party this Saturday, where they can sample appetizers from her new concept.

Katie’s Pizzeria owner Katie Lee is looking for the community's help to expand her artisan cooking to Rock Hill, and this week she surpassed the 75 percent mark to funding. Lee launched a Kickstarter campaign in late January in hopes of opening Katie's Pizza and Pasta, and is now less than $10,000 away from her $40,000 goal.
