Artifacts Sought to Honor Clayton's Centennial

The Clayton History Society is asking donors to contribute funds and memorabilia in honor of the centennial in 2013.

What do items such as a 1911 high school diploma, a bar token from the Autenrieth Hotel and World War II-era photographs have in common? These and other artifacts will appear in a museum created by the Clayton History Society when Clayton celebrates its centennial in 2013. "We've acquired a lot of things just digging through City Hall. We also received yearbooks from Clayton High," said Cheryl Verde, a founding board member of the Clayton History Society who maintains the growing collection. "It's fun to make history come alive through the research we're doing." The Society debuted in late 2007. Verde volunteers by maintaining the group's website and acquiring prospective museum pieces.
