Sadie’s Alterations is tucked into the walkable Wydown Boulevard business district, sandwiched between Protzel’s and A Floral Gallery. As a 22 year old newlywed, owner Inga Bosnjak moved from the former Yugoslavia to St. Louis. Thirty-three years later, she’s a successful business owner with two employees and a loyal Clayton clientele that includes hipsters and brides. Sadie’s opened Jan. 1, 1947. Twenty-five years ago, when the founders were ready to retire, they sold the store to Bosnjak and her then-husband, who kept Sadie’s name and moved the store to its current location. “My ex-husband and I already owned one shop," Bosnjak said.
