The St. Louis Rams have outlined a renovation plan for the Edward Jones Dome that is estimated to cost $700 million.
The Rams want us to buy them a new house. Just fixing up its current home—the Edward Jones Dome—won't do. Instead, the St. Louis football franchise expects an extreme makeover, to the tune of $700 million, as it is estimated by a company hired by the St. Louis Convention and Visitors Commission (CVC) to analyze the team's counter proposal to a the CVC's own plan to upgrade the Edward Jones Dome with a $124 million facelift. If someone doesn't cough up the $700 mil to redo the Dome, it is feared the team will take its football and go home to Los Angeles, where it came from before it was the St. Louis franchise. All of this wrangling was set in motion in 1995 when the team negotiated a 30-year lease with the CVC. It was stipulated that the …

Dave Matter calls Thompson a "ready-made" defensive tackle. Photos of Thompson in action.
Maplewood Richmond Heights junior lineman, Antar Thompson, created quite a buzz on Saturday when he verbally committed to Missouri. Columbia Daily Tribune sports writer Dave Matter says Thompson could be what the Tigers need in the front four. In the article, MRH coach Brandon Gregory said he recently found out that Missouri had always been Thompson's dream school. “A lot of schools come in here and want to talk to him, but when I introduced him to Coach Ford, he automatically started smiling. I told Coach Ford, ‘I don’t know what you just said to him but he don’t usually smile like that. He’s usually laid back and quiet.’ Come to find out, Mizzou has been his dream school and he’s always wanted to go there. But he’s so quiet and laid back…

The 6-foot-4 sophomore ace leads the Suburban East Conference in wins, innings pitched and individual earned run average.
Coming into the 2012 high school baseball season, Clayton High School thought its Greyhounds might be pretty good this year. And because the 'Hounds had good hitters from top to bottom, along with two returning No. 1 ace-caliber starting pitchers in seniors Sam Fox and Jeremy Phillips, that seemed like right-minded thinking. But no one expected Clayton's ascent up the Suburban East Conference standings this year to be led by a sophomore who dominates opposing lineups nearly every time he takes the mound. "What can I say? Nick Bax is having a great year for us," Clayton head baseball coach Craig Sucher said. "He's doing great at the plate, and he's really throwing the ball well on the mound." Boy is he ever. Bax, a 10th-grader who is 6-foot…

Controversy erupted last year after Horrell, a physical education teacher, was dismissed as head football coach following an investigation into the violation of Missouri athletics by-laws.
*Editor's note: An earlier version of this article incorrectly identified Sam Horrell's titled at Clayton High School. He is a physical education teacher. This article has been updated to reflect the correct title. Former Clayton High School (CHS) football coach Sam Horrell will not return as a physical education* teacher this fall, the district confirmed Wednesday. On April 4, the Clayton Board of Education voted unanimously to not renew Horrell's contract, said Chris Tennill, chief communications officer for the School District of Clayton. The school does not have the enrollment to support another P.E. teacher, Tennill said. Horrell was the only non-tenured P.E. teacher* on staff at the high school. Tennill said the school has a total of…
