House Fire in Richmond Heights Put Out with Neighbor's Help

A Maplewood woman got the homeowner to safety, and firefighters extinguished the blaze, KSDK Newschannel 5 reported.

A Maplewood woman is being credited with saving the home—and life—of a Richmond Heights resident Tuesday, KSDK Newschannel 5 reported. Quoting from the KSDK report: "A woman driving down Boneta Avenue around 3:30 p.m. noticed flames shooting out of the back of a home." Friday, May 4 A license plate was reported stolen from a vehicle while it was parked in the garage at SSM St. Mary's Health Center, 6420 Clayton Rd. A 21-year-old man and two juvenile women were arrested on suspicion of stealing more than $1,300 in merchandise from Macy's. Crime Claims Edition: Kidnapping, Tire-Iron Assault, Child Abuse

This May, people have contacted Richmond Heights police with several serious allegations.

The Richmond Heights Police Department reported the following incidents on its website. An allegation of child abuse May 3 in the 1200 block of East Linden Avenue proved unfounded after an official investigation. A Richmond Heights police officer was asked to provide assistance at Meramec Elementary School in Clayton, where a Division of Family Services social worker interviewed a juvenile resident of the home. Family members later were interviewed. The officer and social worker agreed there was no evidence to remove any children from the home. No further investigation is planned. A 15-year-old man was placed in foster care after he contacted Richmond Terrace on May 3 and claimed he had been kidnapped. An investigation revealed he had been…

A missing 3-year-old girl is safe after a person spotted her in a vehicle Friday near St. Louis Bread Co. on Clayton Road in Clayton, FOX2-TV reported. Quoting from the FOX2-TV article: "The tip came from a woman who had seen pictures of the missing child and a man who claims to be her father, Albert Corey Hunter, on the news.  She called Bridgeton police shortly after five pm Saturday to tell them she believed the two were in a Cadillac parked at the restaurant. Robber Chase Faulted for Damage to Parked Cars

A robber with a chaperone is to blame for hitting two parked cars this month on Hiawatha Avenue, a wanted man told the Richmond Heights Police Department.

A wanted man whom Richmond Heights police took into custody May 1 during a traffic investigation claims to have been chasing a robber. Police were looking into a report that someone in a dark-colored vehicle had left the scene of an accident. The crash damaged two parked cars in the 7500 block of Hiawatha Avenue. An officer found the suspect vehicle near Laclede Station Road and Dale Avenue and took the driver into custody because another agency had been seeking his arrest. The man told police he had been robbed in the parking lot of VFW Post 3500. He said he then chased the perpetrator on Hiawatha. Gun Discovery Prompts Criminal-History Investigation

Richmond Heights police found the firearm in a car after receiving a report of suspicious circumstances on Clayton Road.

An argument reported last month on Clayton Road has prompted the Richmond Heights Police Department to investigate possible illegal handgun possession. It happened April 21. An anonymous caller indicated to police that an argument was happening in a car parked in the 7700 block, Capt. Doug Schaeffler said. Upon arriving at the scene, police located a handgun inside the car. They arrested a man, 29, in connection with the discovery. An investigation is underway to determine whether the suspect has a criminal history that would make it illegal for him to carry a handgun, Schaeffler said.

Child Abuse Charges Investigated in Richmond Heights

Police learned of the case after a person with the Maplewood Richmond Heights School District contacted Missouri's abuse hotline.

Four Richmond Heights siblings are in foster care after police said they found evidence of abuse. No arrests have been made, though the possibility of criminal charges is under investigation, Capt. Doug Schaeffler of the Richmond Heights Police Department said Tuesday. The children were moved to foster care April 26. It happened after a person with the Maplewood Richmond Heights School District noticed bruising on one of the children and contacted the Missouri Children's Division Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline Unit. Social workers investigated the case and contacted police, who interviewed their mother and found evidence of abuse. Schaeffler could not release the ages of the children because all of them are juveniles. He said people who …
