Clayton Coach Howard Sher Honored for Volunteerism

He has coached youth sports in the city for eight years.

volunteer Howard Sher has been named 2011 Outstanding Volunteer Coach by the Missouri Park and Recreation Association Sports Section, the city announced Thursday.

“We are grateful to Howard for his dedication and service to the City of Clayton Youth Sports Leagues,” parks and recreation director Patty DeForrest stated in a news release.

For eight years, Sher has coached basketball, baseball and soccer. He often goes beyond ordinary volunteer responsibilities, the release states.

His accomplishments include organizing Clayton's first-ever basketball league for kindergarteners.
