Clayton Library to Launch Summer Reading Clubs June 1

Patrons of all ages can challenge themselves by committing to read a certain number of books. Prizes will include autographed books, movie tickets and more.

Clayton residents are invited to participate in one of several free summer reading clubs offered by the of the St. Louis County Library.

Registration begins June 1 at the branch, 7821 Maryland Ave. Program guides for each club also are available.

The following table provides a quick overview of reading requirements and prizes for each age level.

AGES THEME READING REQUIREMENTS PRIZES Baby Summer Reading Club 0 to 2 Sweet Dreams @ Your Library Parents track the number of books they read to their little ones and the number of library story times they attend on the log sheet they receive when signing up. Bring the log sheet to the library when each prize stop is reached.
Electronic keys, Giggables, board books and more. Kids Summer Reading Club 3 to entering fifth grade Dream Big, Read! Track the number of minutes or books read using the log sheet. Bring the log sheet to the library when each prize stop is reached. Chance to win Cardinals tickets and passes to a St. Louis Blues game. Kids who complete the club get a pass to one of five Library Nights at the Magic House (pass includes free entry for one child and up to two adults). Kids who complete the SRC bonus round will be entered into a raffle for a Target gift card. Teen Summer Reading Club Entering grades 6 to 12 Own the Night Earn points by reading books, magazines and graphic novels, and by listening to audiobooks. Register and keep track of reading online at slcl.org/teens or using a log sheet. When a level is complete, visit the library to collect a reward. Grand prizes include a Kindle Fire (one winner per branch), a mountain bike, a Dell laptop and an iPad 2. Adult Reading Club Age 18 and older Step into New Worlds Complete 10 books or 50 hours of reading time during the 11-week period that runs from May 29 through Aug. 13. Those who complete the club will be entered into a drawing to win a number of prizes.
Gift cards from Nordstrom, Barnes & Noble, Starbucks and St. Louis Bread Company. Other prizes include Mary Engelbreit tote bags, signed first editions of popular books and tickets from the St. Louis Cardinals and Wehrenberg Theaters
