Ladue Graduate Coaches Clayton Field Hockey

Darby Hogan also teaches journalism at Clayton High School.

Darby Hogan began her field hockey career as a student at Ladue High School. Now, she is adding orange to her wardrobe as head coach for field hockey at rival .

“I’m really excited about it," Hogan said. "Everyone is welcoming. I’m super excited about playing Ladue.”

While temperatures in excess of 100 degrees kept the Clayton Greyhounds and John Burroughs School Bombers from playing a game Wednesday at Gay Field, Hogan took time to talk about her background and the upcoming season.

Hogan played collegiate field hockey and lacrosse at Lindenwood University, where she was also a field hockey graduate assistant for two years. Before coming to Clayton, Hogan coached Lacrosse at Whitfield School.

“I couldn’t have a smoother transition. I am really happy to be over here," she said.

The Greyhounds are a young team with only two seniors. Hogan hopes to attract more girls to the sport and plans to build the program, camaraderie and bonding between players. In the meantime, junior Christina Difelice, senior goalie Thalia Sass and senior Kate Harrison will be a triple threat.

Off the field, Hogan teaches journalism at Clayton High School and is the editor for the school newspaper.
