Greyhound to Compete at National Synchronized Skating Event

Lian Lawton of Clayton High School is among those headed to California in March.

A student is expected to compete at the U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships in March along with other St. Louis athletes, a news release states.

Lian Lawton and other members of St. Louis Synergy's U.S. Figure Skating Intermediate Synchronized Skating Team recently won a silver medal at the Midwestern Sectionals Competition in Minnesota. The distinction makes them eligible to attend the national event, which will happen in Ontario, CA.

It marks the first time a Missouri team such as this one has qualified for the national synchronized skating competition.

The team practices in conjunction with the Webster Groves-based Metro Edge Figure Skating Club. The club's synchronized skating teams are composed of between 10 and 20 members, who range in age from 4 to 18.
