Clayton Defeats U City for District Football Championship

Lions' last-second rally falls short, as Clayton claims second district title in last three years.

CLAYTON -- After missing an extra-point that could've tied Monday's Class 4 District 5 championship game at Clayton's Centene Stadium, the University City football team got the ball back with about two minutes left and no timeouts, with a chance to win the game.

Unfortunately, the Lions weren't able to move the ball into scoring position, as Clayton's Tyler Walker intercepted U. City quarterback George Brown's final pass and returned it 65 yards for a touchdown, to clinch a 27-20 victory for the Greyhounds.

Walker, who also had three touchdown runs for Clayton, scored four times for the second straight game, as the Greyhounds won their second district football title in the last three years.
