Richmond Heights Veteran's Honor Roll Update

Richmond Heights Veteran's Honor Roll needs your help! Please add yourself or the veteran in your life to the Honor Roll.

For over a decade, the staff of Richmond Heights Memorial Library have been collecting the names of Richmond Heights veterans of foreign wars and placing them in a commemorative document, the Richmond Heights Honor Roll.  A couple months ago, we began working on a major update to the Honor Roll, by asking you for submissions about Richmond Heights veterans.  I am pleased to announce that we've gotten dozens of submissions, and more on the way.

Since it's the holiday season, and a lot of us will be visiting with family and friends over the next month, I am writing to remind you about this project.  We want you to help add yourself, if you are a veteran, or the Richmond Heights veterans in your life and memory, to the Honor Roll.

We need information about any veteran who lives or has lived in Richmond Heights.  Please look for that veteran’s information in the existing Richmond Heights Honor Roll, to make sure it is there and accurate.  You can find it at www.rhml.lib.mo.us.  To add new information to the Honor Roll, fill out a Local Veteran’s Archive Registration Form, also available at the library or at www.rhml.lib.mo.us.  Please turn in the completed form at the library’s main circulation desk.

The Richmond Heights Public Library was established in 1933.  When it moved to a new building in 1974, it was renamed to include the words Memorial Library.  This ongoing Honor Roll project reflects a similar understanding of how the sacrifices of veterans throughout our nation’s history make possible many of the freedoms represented by a public library – the freedom to read, the freedom of information, and equal access for all.
