Heroin Use Up After OxyContin Changes, WUSTL Researchers Say

The finding appears in a letter published in the New England Journal of Medicine, University City Patch reported.

It's have contributed to increased heroin use, Washington University researchers reported via University City Patch.

Quoting from the article about Washington University School of Medicine research:

"Since the researchers started gathering data from patients admitted to drug treatment centers, the number of users who selected OxyContin as their primary drug of abuse has decreased from 35.6 percent of respondents before the release of the abuse-deterrent formulation to 12.8 percent now."
