Parents Protest After Former Clayton Principal Named to Head Charter School

Dr. Louise Losos resigned from Clayton High School last year.

Parents in the City of St. Louis protested this week after a former Clayton High School Principal was named to lead Grand Center Arts Academy.

Dr. Louise Losos resigned from the Clayton School District in June 2012 after a claim posted online in early April of that year that the principal had created a Facebook profile under the name Suzy Harriston. She had been on a leave of absence from the district since April 2012.

At the time, Chief Communications Officer Chris Tennill declined to comment to Patch about the Facebook allegation. He said Losos' leave was a personnel matter.

Fox 2 News reports that parents at the school are upset with the school board for letting current Principal Lynne Glickert’s contract expire and deciding to hire Losos.

She received $140,000 in a settlement agreement with the Clayton District after leaving.

According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Grand Center board members were aware of Losos' history at Clayton. Quoting from the Post:

“We believe, based on her outstanding record as an educational leader, she deserves a second chance,” officials wrote in the statement. “We feel very fortunate she is joining our leadership team.”
