Disability: An Attempt to Think WITH

The Fontbonne University 2011 Carondelet Lecture Series welcomes Stanley Hauerwas, Ph.D., the Gilbert T. Rowe Professor of Theological Ethics at the Divinity School of Duke University, Monday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m. Hauerwas will discuss “Disability: An Attempt to Think With.”

A distinguished scholar, lecturer and teacher, Hauerwas has been a pioneer in contemporary Christian theology. He has a multidisciplinary approach to Christian ethics, and he works on issues of medical ethics, war and peace, and care of the mentally disabled.

The event will take place in Doerr Memorial Chapel in Ryan Hall on Fontbonne's main campus. Its topic coincides with the university's fall 2011 Dedicated Semester topic, “The Disability Experience: Quest for Empowerment.”

This lecture is part of Fontbonne’s Carondelet Lecture Series, which explores how Catholic thought may engage a pluralistic world.
