The Clayton High School History Department is inviting the St. Louis community to attend a discussion with a distinguished panel of local historians about the Emancipation Proclamation.
The event will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. today in the Clayton High School auditorium.
In recognition of the 150th anniversary of President Lincoln’s issuance of the Emancipation Proclamation and as a celebration of its message of freedom, the discussion about the meaning and effect of the Emancipation Proclamation will be held on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
Historians will include Dr. Stefan Bradley and Dr. Katrina Thompson from St. Louis University, Dr. Priscilla Dowden-White and Dr. Louis Gerteis from the University of Missouri-St. Louis, and Dr. Gary Kremer from the State Historical Society of Missouri.
This event is provided by Clayton High School at no cost to attendees.
