Winings Committee Outspends Opponents' Committees in Ward 3 Race by Thousands

Mark Winings is one of three candidates seeking to succeed Alex Berger as a Ward 3 representative on the Clayton Board of Aldermen.

The committee for Clayton Board of Aldermen candidate has spent two and a half times more money on the than either of his opponents' committees. The numbers come from documents filed with the Missouri Ethics Commission and the St. Louis County Election Board.

The committee Friends of Winings for Aldermen has spent approximately $4,700 on the race, documents show. The Winings committee reported getting nearly $6,100 in monetary and in-kind support. The committee reported getting $300 of in-kind support from Winings' employer, the law firm Lewis Rice. Of the remaining receipts, Winings himself gave approximately $5,100 in funding.

's committee, Friends to Elect Holtzman, spent approximately $1,800 and reported monetary receipts of approximately $1,900. 's committee, Friends to Elect Steve Singer, spent approximately $1,600 and reported monetary receipts of approximately $2,500. Both candidates also provided personal funds to their respective committees: Holtzman gave a loan of roughly $900 and Singer gave a loan of roughly $1,100.

As for money left on hand, Singer's committee had the most at approximately $900. Winings' committee had approximately $700 left and Holtzman's committee had approximately $100.
