VIDEO: Chickens Issue Yields Comments on Sustainability, Rats

The Richmond Heights City Council spent the majority of its Monday night meeting listening to residents and other speakers' thoughts on the development of an ordinance about backyard chickens.

Some speakers at Monday night's Richmond Heights City Council meeting said backyard chickens produce eggs that taste good, support sustainable living and provide educational opportunities. Others argued that chickens harbor salmonella and that feed mismanagement invites rats and other pests.

The meeting began at 7:30 p.m., and comments about chickens continued well past 9 p.m.

This video features several speakers who offered their perspective on the issue of backyard chickens on Monday.
