Two Percent Raise Proposed for RH Employees

The cost of living increase would be included in the 2013-14 Richmond Heights budget.

Richmond Heights Mayor James Beck thinks city employees are the among the best in St. Louis and to reward them, he wants to add 1 percent to the 1 percent cost of living increased proposed by City Manager Amy C. Hamilton.

"They deserve it," Beck said. "They are among the best."

The city council Monday approved changing the cost of living increase in the 2013-14 city budget to 2 percent. The cost of living increase applies to newer hires and those on Step 10 of the city's pay plan.

Other employees will be eligible for a merit increase.

The cost of living increase would be the first granted by the city since 2009-10.

The city council approved a first read of the budget ordinance 9-0. The second and final read will be held in June.
